The lack of essential natural resources will have a significant impact on the formation of the global economy, says Igor Sechin, Executive Secretary of the Presidential Commission on the Development Strategy of the Fuel and Energy Complex and Environmental Safety. He expressed this opinion at the end of his speech at the Energy Panel at the XXIX St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"So what's left under the lid at the bottom of Pandora's box? According to Hesiod, these are hopes. Moreover, in a more accurate translation of the myth — empty hopes, vain expectations," Sechin continued the comparison of the world economy with the ancient Greek myth, which began at the beginning of the report. He predicted that "at the bottom of the coffer, we will inevitably find a global shortage of electricity, shortages of food, copper and other metals, and water shortages, which will determine the new face of the global economy." "Is everyone ready to face new threats?" said Sechin.

The one who is best prepared for this will survive, the executive secretary of the presidential Commission on Fuel and Energy Complex believes. "This will be, in fact, the "end of the beginning", when empty hopes, illusions and saving chimeras will finally evaporate," he is sure.

At the same time, Sechin quoted the poet and philosopher Stanislav Jerzy Lez: "Eternity is a temporary solution until the beginning and the end are determined." "The present end of the systemic crisis and the formation of a new normality are still very far away. Not everyone will wait for him," he summed up his report "The beginning of the end or the end of the beginning: what is left at the bottom of Pandora's box?"
