Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev noted that the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should develop coordinated proactive approaches to combat cyber threats. He made this statement at a meeting of the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and public security of the SCO countries in Bishkek.

"Current and potential cyber threats are characterized by a high rate of adaptation, scale, and anonymity. This requires the SCO member states to develop coordinated proactive approaches. The SCO is already an important platform for cooperation," Kolokoltsev stressed on June 5.

The Minister noted the trend of criminal schemes moving into cyberspace. This applies to international drug trafficking, terrorist financing, and attacks on critical infrastructure. Among the priorities is the creation of a universal center for countering challenges and threats to the security of the organization's member States. The relevant agreement was signed by the leaders of the SCO countries in China.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 4 that the SCO was created as a tool for resolving border issues, but has grown and become a significant force. According to the head of state, the organization's activities have long gone beyond the initial tasks. Putin noted that practical work is underway within the SCO to develop economic cooperation between the participating states.
