- Beglov urged residents of St. Petersburg not to go outside because of the UAV attack.
St. Petersburg was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles at night. On June 6, the governor of the city, Alexander Beglov, urged residents not to go outside. For more information, see the Izvestia article.
What is known about the UAV attack on St. Petersburg
Beglov said that the city had been subjected to a large-scale attack by military UAVs. In connection with the current situation, the operational headquarters issued recommendations to the public. The governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, said that the number of UAVs shot down over the territory of the Leningrad Region had increased to 141. Debris falls were recorded in the Luga, Volosovsky and Lomonosov districts.
Similar incidents had already been recorded in the city: on June 3, St. Petersburg was also attacked by UAVs. At that time, damage to infrastructure was reported in a number of areas, including Kronstadt, and several victims. Beglov added that an operational headquarters began operating in the city at that time, and all forces and means of responding to threats were also put on high alert.
Beglov previously linked the attack on St. Petersburg before the SPIEF with the "nervousness of the enemy"
The governor noted that there were some problems during the incident, but they are common in such complex attacks. According to him, the city prepared in advance for possible threats and managed to meet the enemy with dignity. And the drone attack on the city on the eve of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) testifies to the "nervousness of the enemy."
Operation of mobile Internet and cellular communications in St. Petersburg
According to Beglov, due to the current situation in the city, temporary interruptions in the operation of the mobile Internet are possible, which may affect access to online services and the stability of communication among some users. He also noted that information about the end of the air danger regime will be transmitted to residents additionally through official channels, as the situation stabilizes and confirmations are received from operational services.
