Threats from phone scammers should not be feared, they need to be actively countered. Andrey Sharkov, a member of the Russian Bar Association, told about this on July 6.

"When communicating, scammers often frighten a person with the responsibility that will come for him if he does not perform certain actions, often without transferring money. If there is any violation in your actions, then transferring money will not save you from responsibility," Sharkov said in an interview with TASS.

The expert recalled that real law enforcement officers do not call citizens through messengers. They use the phone exclusively to inform about the need to report to the police department. Sharkov stressed that when executing commands from intruders, a person runs the risk of becoming an accomplice to a crime himself.

Scammers, according to the lawyer, are often experienced psychologists and deliberately create a time-deficit situation so that the victim loses control of what is happening.

"Don't give in to any urgency. Police officers work within the framework of procedural legislation, and the time limits for their actions are set in days and more often months. A real policeman will never rush you," the expert noted.

The expert of the "Popular Front. Galaktion Kuchava Analytics reported on June 5 that fraudsters place ads on car travel search services and send phishing links to victims under the pretext of booking a place. According to the expert, on the fake page, a person is asked to log in, enter bank card details, and also confirm the operation using a one-time SMS code, after which the money is debited from the account, and the "driver" disappears.
