- Axios reported on the meeting of Witkoff and Kushner with experts in the nuclear field
US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steven Witkoff and the American leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner held consultations with a group of nuclear experts who may be involved in negotiations with Iran. This was reported on June 5 by the Axios portal, citing sources.
"President Trump's envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee to consult with a group of technical experts who may play a role in nuclear negotiations with Iran," the publication says.
In addition, according to sources, these consultations do not mean that a deal between Iran and the United States can be concluded, but indicate that negotiations are in a very serious phase.
On May 25, Trump announced the day before that he was in favor of destroying Iranian enriched uranium in the United States or transferring it to another country. He also suggested involving representatives of the Atomic Energy Commission or its equivalent structure to monitor the process.
Al Hadath TV channel reported on the same day that Iran is considering the possibility of exporting highly enriched uranium from the country. According to high-ranking sources, the option of transferring this material to China is being discussed. It is noted that Tehran is seeking guarantees from Beijing before implementing possible agreements with the United States.
