An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 occurred in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the northern Kuril Islands. This was announced on June 5 on the website of the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The seismic event occurred 76 km from the city of Severo-Kurilsk. The tremors were recorded at a depth of 50 km.
