Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan understands that if he loses the election, criminal proceedings will begin against him in Armenia. Dmitry Solonnikov, Director of the Institute of Modern State Development, shared this opinion with Izvestia on June 6.

According to him, the current government of Armenia will use all available resources to maintain its positions in the upcoming elections.

"Pashinyan understands perfectly well that if he loses, there will be criminal prosecutions, a trial, and a showdown with his potential corruption. So far, no one is accusing anyone, but, most likely, these charges will be if the opposition wins. <...> It is impossible to lose, it is necessary to win. <...> He has an indulgence for any actions. The main thing is that he wins, and he will implement this scenario," he said.

In addition, Yervand Bozoyan, a member of the board of the Mother Armenia party, noted that the actions of the Armenian authorities call into question the legitimacy of future elections.

According to Bozoyan, the rating of the current government is declining due to public fatigue from the eight-year rule of the Pashinyan regime, unfulfilled promises and the consequences of the loss of Karabakh.

In April, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that Russia wants to see Russian-oriented political forces in the elections in Armenia. He noted that some pro-Russian politicians are in prison in Armenia, despite the fact that they have Russian passports. In addition, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, more than 2 million Armenians also live on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Putin also noted that the aggravation of internal political processes on the eve of the elections in Armenia should not harm relations between Moscow and Yerevan. Pashinyan, in turn, stressed that the construction and strengthening of relations between the two countries will continue regardless of the outcome of the vote in the republic.

The head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Vahagn Hovakimyan, announced on June 5 that the CEC of Armenia did not deprive Samvel Karapetyan's bloc of registration for the upcoming elections on June 7. It was clarified that the issue was considered on the basis of an appeal by the leader of the pro-Western Republika Party, Aram Sargsyan, after an appeal by the Prime Minister of Armenia.
