In a short period of time, Russia has managed to become a leader in the creation of a cancer vaccine. Veronika Skvortsova, head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia, told about this on Friday, June 5.

According to her, this happened due to the development of a bioinformatics school in the country.

The head of the FMBA noted that research on the development of cancer vaccines was also conducted by Germany, China and the United States, but they tried to make a single drug for all patients.

"Because of this, the efficiency was very low," she said in an interview with RT.

Earlier, on June 4, Skvortsova said that artificial intelligence (AI) helps specialists find mutations in the human genome to create personalized vaccines against cancer. 360.ru .

On January 1, Marina Sekacheva, Director of the Institute of Personalized Oncology at the First Moscow State Medical University, MD, Professor, told Izvestia that the AI created at Sechenov University makes it possible to automatically analyze biopsy materials of kidney tumors and assess their aggressiveness more accurately than previous methods. AI is already being used to interpret MRI and CT data, predict response to therapy, and select individual treatment regimens.
