One of the leaders of the RDK Kiryushchenko was sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia.

Vasily Kiryushchenko, an ideologist and one of the leaders of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) (an organization banned in the Russian Federation and recognized as a terrorist organization), was sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia. This was reported on June 5 in the press service of the Second Western District Military Court.

"The court in absentia, based on a combination of crimes and partial addition, sentenced Kiryushchenko to life imprisonment with serving the first nine years in prison, and the rest of the sentence in a special—regime penal colony, with a fine of 2 million rubles," TASS quoted the court as saying.

In addition, according to the decision of the court, civil claims for compensation for moral damage and compensation for material damage were satisfied. The total amount of payments amounted to more than 7 million rubles.

A source from Izvestia reported on June 6, 2025, that a criminal case had been opened against Kiryushchenko, and his name had appeared on the Rosfinmonitoring website. On July 13, the Russian Interior Ministry put Kiryushchenko on the wanted list.

Later, on July 30, Kiryushchenko was arrested in absentia in Moscow. A criminal case was opened against one of the leaders of the RDK in accordance with Part 2 of Article 205.5 ("Participation in the activities of an organization that is recognized as terrorist in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation").
