- The politician Shoshoake spoke about the pressure of the EU and Romanian authorities due to ties with Russia
On June 5, Romanian representative and member of the European Parliament Diana Shoshoake, in an interview with a correspondent of Izvestia during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026), announced unprecedented pressure from the authorities of the European Union (EU) and Bucharest because of its ties with Russia.
According to the politician, she was deprived of parliamentary immunity in the European Parliament. In addition, Shoshoake said that 200 criminal cases had been initiated against her, and the Constitutional Court of Romania had issued a decision banning her from participating in the presidential elections.
"I believe in God. I am Orthodox. God is the supreme authority in this world, the most powerful force. Therefore, if God is with me, who can do anything against me?" she said.
Despite the legal pressure and the threat of criminal prosecution, Shoshoake stressed that she is not afraid of the actions of the authorities.
On the same day, Shoshoake assured Russian President Vladimir Putin that Romanians do not hate Russia and do not want to help Ukraine. According to her, at the moment, the republic is actually governed from Brussels, and the current leadership of the country does not represent the interests of the nation.
