Manturov spoke about the use of the domestic PD-8 engine.
The PD-8 engine opens up new possibilities for solving issues related to the re-motorization of the Be-200 amphibious aircraft. This was announced to Izvestia on June 5 by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"First of all, this is really the first fully Russian engine in this segment. <...> And it opens up opportunities to close the issues of Be-200 remotorization, because there is a D-436 engine there. Plus, the [helicopter] Mi-26," said Manturov.
According to the First Deputy Prime Minister, previously the country did not have the necessary competencies in this segment of the aircraft industry.
On the same day, the head of Rostec State Corporation, Sergey Chemezov, announced that the new PD-8 aircraft engine had successfully passed flight tests as part of the Superjet aircraft, and the certification program for the airliner was nearing completion.
Rostec announced on April 29 that the PD-8 engine had been tested in conditions of a potential vessel hitting a cloud from heavy hail. The tests, which took place in the open area of the Rybinsk ODK-Saturn enterprise, showed that the power plant works reliably even in the conditions of the described extreme situation.
