- The President of Tanzania pointed out the unimportance of gender in strategic planning
In strategic planning, the gender of the leader of the state is unimportant. This was announced on June 5 by the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, while taking part in the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026).
Hasan responded appropriately to a question she received from journalists about what it was like, as a female president, to support economic development in the state.
"The economy has nothing at all to do with the gender of the leader. Does the economy depend on how government affairs are managed, how the country is run? Whether you are a woman or a man, strategic planning is important," she said.
The leader of Tanzania noted that under her administration, the state can feel confident from this point of view. According to the president, it has a strategically advantageous geographical location, being located in the epicenter of trade corridors connecting all sides of the world.
According to her, Tanzania's economic growth has been recorded since 2021. Then the indicators rose by 3-4%, and subsequently began to increase to 4.5-6%. It is assumed that in the future this value may develop even up to 6.3%.
Hassan arrived in Russia on June 3. She was personally greeted at the Kremlin Palace by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the sound of an orchestra. On the same day, the Russian leader pointed out the opportunities available to Moscow and Dodoma to boost interstate trade. Putin clarified that in 2025 alone, the trade turnover between these actors increased by 25%, which is the need to continue working on such cooperation.
