Russia already uses national currencies in trade relations, and the ruble's share in export transactions is more than 65%. This was announced on June 5 by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026).

According to the president, countries are increasingly using alternative payment systems and digital financial assets, including central bank digital currencies.

"Russia mainly uses national currencies in trade relations with its leading partners, so the share of the ruble in our export and export operations today is 65%," the Russian leader said.
