Russia's first energy storage system testing center to be set up in Moscow

Two memoranda aimed at the development of electric transport were signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in the Maks messenger.

The first document was signed with Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation. It provides for cooperation in the field of testing and certification of energy storage systems and their components.

As part of the agreement, it is planned to create Russia's first full-cycle Testing and Certification Center for energy storage systems at the Krasnaya Pakhra site of the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone. It should start working in 2027.

As Sobyanin noted, Russian manufacturers are now forced to test and certify their products abroad, which increases the cost and time of implementing new developments. The mayor also recalled that the construction of two large battery factories continues in the capital. Their launch is scheduled for 2026.

Moscow signed the second memorandum with Denis Manturov and Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board. The document is aimed at supporting the development of the electric fleet. With federal support, about 50 civilian vessels are planned to be built and leased at the Moscow Shipyard, including vessels of the Moscow 1.0, Moscow 2.0, and Moscow 3.0 series, as well as the Moscow Golden Ring cruise ship.

In addition, the parties agreed to jointly work out the parameters of a program for preferential leasing of civil vessels, including passenger vessels, as well as to prepare proposals for improving the regulatory framework.

According to Sobyanin, the implementation of the agreements will make it possible to provide Moscow shipbuilding with long-term orders, which will become the basis for the renewal of the passenger fleet and the further development of the capital's water transport.
