The attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on ships in the Sea of Azov once again demonstrated the terrorist nature of the Kiev regime. This was announced on June 5 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"According to reports, the vessels were attacked by Ukrainian drones, which once again confirms the terrorist nature of the Kiev regime, which is increasingly targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure facilities," Zakharova said in a statement posted on the agency's website.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that in the early morning of June 5, the Natra and Zircon motor ships en route from Turkey to the port of Rostov-on-Don under the flags of Belize and Palau were attacked in the Sea of Azov. As a result of the attack, there are wounded and dead on both ships. As specified, there are Azerbaijani citizens among the victims.

The Foreign Ministry also indicated that Russia will provide all necessary assistance to Azerbaijan in obtaining information about the circumstances of the incident and ensuring consular access.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported earlier in the day that five Azerbaijani sailors were killed in an attack on two cargo ships in the Sea of Azov. It is specified that in addition to the dead, three Azerbaijani citizens were injured and were hospitalized. The ministry added that work is currently underway to provide assistance to the victims and return them to their homeland.
