A center for the development of engineering infrastructure will be created in Moscow

At SPIEF 2026, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin signed a memorandum with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak on the establishment of the Moscow Regional Competence Center for technological connection to the grid. He will combine the main functions of management and development of engineering infrastructure, Sobyanin said in his channel in Maks.

The work of the center, in particular, will cover the creation of backbone networks and head structures and the identification of priority construction projects, taking into account integrated engineering schemes. The center will also deal with the task of transferring networks for maintenance and operation to resource-supplying organizations.

"As a result, the time required to connect facilities to the grid will be significantly reduced," Sobyanin said. The work is synchronized with the commissioning of new buildings within the framework of city programs, the head of the capital emphasized.

According to the mayor of Moscow, the center will solve the problem of exceeding the estimated energy consumption values over the actual needs of capital buildings, taking into account their increased energy efficiency. After reviewing outdated regulations, an "unused reserve" will be released, which will allow connecting new facilities without building additional generating capacities, Sobyanin said.

"The main result of the cooperation will be a new model of transparent and energy—efficient technological connection, which can then be implemented in other regions of the country," the head of Moscow added.
