German companies would like to restore commercial ties with Russia, but this is hampered by continued interference from the United States. This was announced on June 5 by deputy from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party Steffen Cotre on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026).

"The pressure is coming from the United States: the logic is that if you do business with Russia, you may lose the opportunity to do business with us. Therefore, German companies naturally focus on the American market," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
