Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei does not appear in public for security reasons. This was announced on June 5 by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

"He is very closely involved in the processes and influences the development of events in the country, holding the reins of government. However, for security reasons, [relevant] authorities do not recommend appearing in person to a greater extent," he said on Al—Mayadeen TV channel. The text of the interview was published on the Telegram channel of the Foreign Minister.

Araqchi added that the Government of the Islamic Republic maintains constant contact with the Ayatollah, stressing that he participates in making strategic decisions.

On June 3, US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei is participating in Tehran's negotiation process with Washington. In addition, Trump noted that he would like to meet with the Iranian leader. In his opinion, after the conflict is over, they should meet in person.

The head of the press service of the Iranian Ministry of Health, Hossein Kermanpour, said on May 18 that the injuries of Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei, sustained as a result of the bombing of the United States and Israel in March, did not mutilate his appearance. According to him, the Ayatollah suffered leg injuries, as a result of which he received "a couple of stitches."
