- Dmitriev positively assessed the possible cancellation of the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Germany.
On June 5, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation, assessed the information about the possible cancellation of the delivery of Tomahawk missiles from the United States to Germany.
"No Tomahawk for [German Chancellor Friedrich] Merz," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The day before, Politico newspaper reported that the Pentagon may cancel the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Germany, fearing that Moscow will perceive this as an escalation of the conflict and take retaliatory measures. It is noted that this step is part of a broader American reduction in participation in NATO, including the cancellation of the deployment of American troops in Germany and plans to withdraw some resources.
In May, members of the German Bundestag from the Left Party noted that the German authorities should ban the deployment of intermediate-range ballistic missiles of the US army on the territory of the republic. According to the text of the declaration, the United States intends to deploy the following types of weapons on the territory of Germany: Tomahawk medium-range cruise missiles, SM-6 extended-range anti-aircraft missiles, experimental hypersonic missiles.
