The expert spoke about new renovation trends in 2026

Russians are less and less engaged in the selection of materials, the search for contractors and the control of repairs on their own. More and more people are entrusting the organization of work to professionals or choosing ready-made solutions. Boris Sidorov, director of Kashirsky Dvor shopping center, told Izvestia about this on June 6.

According to him, for modern clients, renovation is not only an interior renovation, but also confidence in deadlines, a predictable budget and guaranteed results.

"Today, people are not ready to spend time and nerves on repairs, but want to get results without unnecessary stress. It is important for them not just to buy tiles, light or plumbing, but to get an understandable, high-quality and comfortable repair process without errors and endless alterations. This explains the growing demand for turnkey integrated solutions," the expert noted.

Sidorov also noted that the number of major repairs is decreasing, while interest in cosmetic updates is growing. Currently, there are about seven cosmetic repairs per overhaul. Such projects are often associated with relocation, the birth of a child or a change in the needs of the family and include the renovation of individual rooms, replacement of furniture, lighting and decoration.

Why did this happen despite the crisis in the industry, and what risks does it pose to the market?

The market offers ready-made solutions for specific rooms and tasks, for example, kitchen, bathroom or balcony projects with a pre-defined budget and a list of works. At the same time, repairs are becoming more technologically advanced: new materials, lighting systems, smart homes, and specialized installation technologies are emerging. Therefore, the role of designers, architects and specialized consultants is growing.

According to Sidorov, buyers are less likely to focus only on price. Durability of materials, quality of execution and comfort in daily operation come to the fore, especially with regard to engineering solutions, lighting, floor coverings and automation systems. People study reviews, compare offers, and consult with experts to avoid unnecessary expenses.

"The demand for integrated solutions will continue to grow, as people increasingly value high—quality service, professional support and the opportunity to get predictable results without spending significant time and effort not only in repairs, but also in all areas of life," Sidorov emphasized.

Dmitry Novokhatsky, the chief specialist of the author's supervision, said on April 25 that most buyers, when accepting an apartment in a new building, first of all evaluate the appearance of the housing — the flatness of the walls, the quality of the finishes and the condition of the windows.
