The VI Forum "Drug Safety" was held

On June 3, on the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the VI Russian Pharmaceutical Forum "Drug Safety" was held. The event is organized by the Roscongress Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the State Duma Committee on Health Protection.

The pharmaceutical breakfast was the opening event. National drug safety consists of successful work in three key areas: providing citizens with high-quality, effective and safe medicines; drug sovereignty; scientific and technological leadership. Today, the main growth points are fundamental and applied scientific research, as well as the development of personalized medicine, including cellular technologies. At the same time, there remains a certain dependence on the import of active pharmaceutical substances and a shortage of its own full-cycle technology platforms. The experts discussed what mechanisms of synchronization of scientific, industrial and regulatory solutions are proposed to achieve the goals of state policy in the field of drug safety, what government support measures are needed to stimulate the development of innovative molecules and expand domestic production of substances, as well as how to ensure a balance between accelerating the introduction of innovations to the market and maintaining high standards of safety and effectiveness.

The key event of the Forum was the plenary session "Drug Safety as a component of Health Care", which was attended by Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, and Mikhail Murashko, Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA of Russia) Veronika Skvortsova, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Priezdeva, Deputy, Member of the State Duma Committee on Health of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Alexander Petrov, Director General of the National Medical Research Center for Radiology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Andrey Kaprin, Director General of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) Tadzio Schilling.

Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko noted that today the approaches to regulating the pharmaceutical industry, developed and implemented in Russia, are beginning to be adopted by other countries: "This means that we are following the right path and choosing areas where speed and safety are comparable." He added that a number of innovative regulatory solutions have also been implemented in the field of drug supply and supported the initiative to develop a strategic document on Russian drug safety.

In total, within the framework of the business program of the Forum "Drug Safety", 17 events were held on topical issues of the pharmaceutical industry development, innovation, intellectual property protection, international cooperation on drug supply and science development.

The Drug Safety Forum rightfully occupies the place of a leading industry platform for productive dialogue between leaders of the pharmaceutical and medical industries, representatives of relevant government authorities, the scientific and expert community.
