VTB announced an increase in the number of contracts with China for SMB clients
In the first quarter of 2026, VTB's medium and small business clients increased their portfolio of contracts with China by 57% compared to the same period last year, Yulia Kopytova, Senior Vice President, head of VTB's Analysis, Coordination and Product Development Department, said on the sidelines of SPIEF 2026.the bank's press service. At the same time, the number of payments in China increased by 36%.
"Small and medium-sized businesses continue to strengthen ties with Chinese partners. Remaining the market leader in this area with its own branch in Shanghai, VTB supports clients at every stage of a foreign trade transaction and develops relevant solutions for working with China: from finding and verifying a counterparty, opening accounts with foreign partners, end-to-end currency control that takes into account the legal norms of both countries, to organizing direct secure settlements, protection against currency risk., documentary products, loans and deposits in yuan. The service is provided in Russian, English and Chinese: the bank helps to avoid barriers to communication and organize foreign economic activity with China as efficiently as possible," Yulia Kopytova noted.
The Chinese supplier base, which already has more than 2.5 thousand profiles of VTB Shanghai client companies aimed at cooperation with Russian businesses, is in high demand among entrepreneurs from both countries. Since the beginning of the year, the base has grown fivefold. The service is available free of charge to customers of medium and small businesses in online banking and allows them to search for potential partners by industry and product types.
A personal foreign trade specialist is assigned to each company by the bank. VTB clients can also use the services of negotiations with Chinese partners, contract examination, customs and logistics support under the supervision of the bank.
