Cuba proposes to link the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), BRICS and Latin American and Caribbean states through the Mariel Special Development Zone, which will act as a logistical bridge. This was announced on June 5 by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Anayansi Rodriguez.

"Our Mariel special development zone has great potential to become a logistics hub that can serve as a bridge between the EAEU or BRICS countries and Latin America and the Caribbean," she told RIA Novosti.

Rodriguez noted that Havana sees opportunities for the development of practical economic cooperation between these regions in such areas as trade, healthcare, biotechnics, biopharmaceuticals, tourism and logistics. Cuba is interested in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with the EAEU and BRICS countries, she stressed.

To do this, the country is ready to offer its own infrastructure and geographical advantages, and such cooperation can benefit not only Cuba, but also other members of the associations.

Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 4 that the BRICS countries currently account for 50% of global economic growth, while the G7 countries account for less than 20%. He noted that currently the G7 countries do not have the same influence as before, so they are starting to "panic, fuss and impose sanctions."
