The Pentagon may cancel the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Germany, fearing that Moscow will perceive this as an escalation of the conflict and take retaliatory measures. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on June 4, citing sources.

"American officials are afraid of retaliatory measures from Moscow if the administration of [US President Donald] Trump will attempt to place precision missiles in the center of the continent. However, any decision not to supply them will cancel the deal made during the [Joe] Biden administration and leave Berlin without a defense in which <...>..> they are in dire need," the publication says.

It is noted that this step is part of a broader American reduction in participation in NATO, including the cancellation of the deployment of American troops in Germany and plans to withdraw some resources. In addition, U.S. officials are concerned about the dwindling U.S. stockpile of weapons, including thousands of Tomahawk and Patriot missiles, which were spent in the first weeks of the conflict with Iran.

The Bild newspaper said on June 4 that the United States plans to abandon the provision of certain types of tanker aircraft and drones to NATO in the near future. It is noted that Washington intends to reduce the number of its fighters, which will be on the balance sheet of the North Atlantic Alliance.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on June 2 that the United States is discussing the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons in additional European NATO countries using dual-purpose aircraft capable of launching nuclear strikes. It is clarified that a number of Baltic countries and the eastern flank of NATO, including Poland, are interested in the proposal to deploy aircraft.
