A resident of the Tyumen region is awaiting trial for the death of friends in an accident

In Tyumen, the investigation of a criminal case on an accident that killed two passengers of a Lada Granta car has been completed. This is reported by the prosecutor's office of the Tyumen region.

The accident occurred in September 2025 at the intersection of Republic and Maxim Gorky streets. The investigation believes that the 23-year-old Lada Granta driver, a resident of the Omutinsky district, ignored the traffic light at the intersection and crashed into a turning Hyundai Solaris. The impact threw the domestic car away, the car crashed into a lighting pole.

In addition to the driver, there were three of his friends in the car at the time of the accident: two young men and a girl. The girl and the driver received various injuries, two other passengers died on the same day in the hospital. According to the <url> news agency, it is known that all of them were not wearing seat belts.

The investigation of the criminal case under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of two persons" has been completed. The materials were submitted to the Central City Court of Tyumen for consideration on the merits. It is noted that the victims have also filed claims for compensation in excess of 6 million rubles.

In May, a court in the Lipetsk region sentenced the driver of a Nissan Almera car for an accident with the dead. The man exceeded the speed limit and lost control, the car overturned. Two passengers of the car were killed, two more were hospitalized.
