A monument to the Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov has been dismantled in Kiev. This was reported on June 4 by the Ukrainian edition "Страна.иа ".

The footage posted on the Telegram channel of the publication shows how the workers completely dismantled the monument, which was located in the city. It is specified that the decision to demolish it was taken by the Kiev City Council in December last year.

On January 30, the Museum of the History of Ukraine during World War II dismantled the Russian-language inscription "Their exploits will live forever, their names are immortal," calling it "unacceptable" and "propaganda." In turn, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the dismantling of the inscriptions, saying that the Kiev regime had removed the letters "for its epitaph."

The policy of so-called decommunization in Ukraine began in 2015 within the framework of the law "On the condemnation of the Communist and Nazi regimes." He orders the demolition of monuments, the dismantling of memorial plaques, and the renaming of all topographical objects whose names are associated with the USSR or Russia, especially after the start of the Russian special operation to protect Donbass in February 2022.
