- Almost 70 thousand electric meters have been replaced free of charge in residential buildings in Moscow since January
Since the beginning of 2026, almost 70,000 electricity meters have been replaced free of charge in residential buildings in Moscow. This was announced on Thursday, June 4, by Pyotr Biryukov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping.
According to him, it is planned to install about 200,000 new metering devices by the end of the year. The work is being carried out at the expense of Mosenergosbyt, which has been responsible for electricity metering in apartment buildings since July 2020, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
Biryukov noted that specialists are changing out-of-order counters and devices with the expired verification interval. The new multi-tariff devices are designed for 30 years of service and in the future will be able to be connected to an intelligent metering system that will automatically transmit readings, writes Moscow 24.
Residents are informed about the upcoming replacement in advance through announcements in the entrances and near the houses.
