The Zaporizhia region will become a donor region for the Russian budget. This was announced on June 4 by Governor Evgeny Balitsky in the Izvestia studio at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"I believe that we will be profitable, and I don't just think so. Today, we already provide half of our income ourselves. Of the 55 billion, we make more than 30 billion on our own, meaning through our own tax collections, and this is not counting the federal budget," he said.

Balitsky said that the region has significant potential for budget and economic revenue growth. According to him, after the resumption of the Zaporizhia NPP, more than 11.5 thousand people will be officially employed and pay personal income tax. He also pointed out the importance of the full-fledged operation of the iron ore plant, whose activities are now complicated by the Ukrainian shelling.

In April, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that Russian donor regions should pay more attention to their budget formation in order to avoid deficits. According to him, the deficit of 1.5 trillion rubles last year was due to the fact that the expected income tax receipts were lower than planned, although the income tax receipts for individuals were higher.
