- Zakharova explained the failure of Germany in the elections to the UN Security Council under the chairmanship of Berbok
The former chairman of the UN General Assembly, former German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok, is to blame for Germany's failure in the UN Security Council elections. This was announced on June 4 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
The day before, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz posted on the social network X (ex. Twitter) congratulations to the elected members, acknowledging Germany's electoral defeat.
"It's just that over the past year, countries have had the misfortune to observe the chairman of the UN General Assembly, a representative of the German elites, Anna/Lena Burbok. We decided not to take any more risks," Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.
The German foreign Minister Johann Wadephul this day acknowledged the defeat of Germany in the elections to the UN security Council, accusing Russia. He also suggested that Israel's support in the war with Iran could also affect the voting results.
