The Armenian Foreign Ministry announced the signing of a framework agreement on the "Trump route"

Armenia has concluded a framework agreement with the United States on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, under which the road is supposed to connect Azerbaijan with the Nakhichevan Autonomous Region through Armenian territory. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced this on June 4.

"I have signed a framework agreement between Armenia and the United States regarding the Trump Route. You remember that a few days ago, during the visit of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Armenia, it was initialed," Mirzoyan said in a video message.

As noted on the website of the Armenian Foreign Minister, Mirzoyan and Rubio signed the agreement remotely. Rubio did it in Washington on June 1, Mirzoyan — in Yerevan on June 4. Thus, the document is ready for ratification.

"This is another important step towards realizing the Armenian-American vision of a peaceful, secure and prosperous Armenia and the region," the Foreign Minister said.

On May 24, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the opening of the Armenia—Turkey, Armenia—Azerbaijan railway, and then through Nakhichevan —Armenia—Iran. The Prime minister assured that this will happen in the near future as a result of the implementation of the TRIPP project.

As Mikhail Kalugin, Director of the fourth CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, noted on May 12, the prospects for the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity project against the backdrop of the war between the United States and Iran are "not cloudless." He noted that the US control over the route from Central Asia to Europe may cause distrust among Asian partners.
