Russia appreciates the role of domestic developments in infrastructure projects
When implementing infrastructure projects, Latitudinal Highway of the Northern Capital LLC relies on domestic developments, taking into account previous experience and adding its own vision. Anton Novikov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the concessionaire project company, told Izvestia on June 4 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026).
He explained that a separate group is working on the development, which is engaged in the development of intelligent transport systems.
"Taking into account our previous experience, including using Western technologies, we tried to adopt the best and add what we see. In particular, for example, neural networks, which were not actively used 5-10 years ago, and self—learning systems," Novikov said.
He noted that their use avoids errors that may occur in the classification of vehicles, and helps to correctly identify the state registration plates of the car.
"As for the automatic traffic management system, our task here is to inform the driver as fully as possible about what awaits him on the road. Starting from some weather conditions, because this system includes, for example, various weather stations that <...> inform the user <...>, as well as speed limits, some potential restrictions related to possible accidents and safety," Novikov added.
On the same day, Veronika Nikishina, General Director of JSC Russian Export Center (REC), told Izvestia about the restructuring of export routes in the country bypassing logistical risks. According to her, due to new logistics routes, the Russian Federation reduces its dependence on the Strait of Hormuz. Among the directions, the head of the REC named the "expansion" of bottlenecks in the current corridors and the "rollout" of new routes.
