Viral memes, contrary to the opinion of the older generation, do not cause "digital dementia" in adolescents. This point of view was expressed by clinical psychologist Sergey Volkov in an interview with Izvestia.

Linguists create an applied dictionary to preserve folk wisdom — it will explain situations of using stable expressions.

"Banning memes is completely impractical, because they, like political jokes, are relevant only in a specific period of time," he stressed.

Memes, according to the expert, can be likened to trends in clothing — fashion changes according to the same algorithm.

"In one season, green shades are in fashion, and in another, brown ones. It's the same with viral memes — one trendy joke is immediately replaced by another. They can be banned indefinitely," the source explained.

The existence of absurd memes can be called society's reaction to the modern world, which is unpredictable and also somewhat absurd, Volkov noted. The relevance of jokes about the USSR among teenagers is due to the fact that information traffic is filled with a narrative about the Soviet Union, which children perceive as a fabulous country.
