- Beglov called the development of industry the locomotive of the economy of St. Petersburg
The development of industry and the creation of high-tech industries are the main factors of economic growth in St. Petersburg. This was announced on June 4 by the governor of the city, Alexander Beglov, in the Izvestia studio at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
"First of all, the engine of our city's economy is the development of industry and the creation of new high—tech industries. That's the most important thing. This is our economy. Jobs must be created. Conditions for taxation should be created. Conditions must be created to attract investments," the head of the region said.
Beglov called the formation of a modern transport framework another priority area. According to him, a large number of flyover-type outbound highways are currently being built in the city. This infrastructure allows you to bypass traffic lights and the city center.
"As a result, by 2032 we want to be able to get from every remote area to the city center in 15 minutes," the governor stressed.
Special attention in the city's development program is paid to the social sphere. Beglov highlighted the Silver Age project, aimed at supporting the older generation of Petersburgers who created modern assets of the city.
The governor also noted the importance of investing in the future generation. This work includes the creation of laboratories, kindergartens, schools and colleges with new educational mechanisms.
First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said on the same day that rare and rare earth metals (REM) play a critical role in the development of modern industrial sectors. He explained that this applies to both basic industries and complex knowledge-intensive industries.
