The revival of cultural exchanges between Moscow and Washington remains a constant task, provided equal and depoliticized cooperation. On July 4, the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova stated this at the session "Russia – USA: Dialogue of Cultures" within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026).

"I am sure that the revival of cultural exchanges and a depoliticized, equal channel is a constant task, provided that it is such a two—way road," she said.

According to Lyubimova, until recently, Russian and American cultural figures have implemented a large number of joint projects. It was about creative exchanges of students, tours of artists, cooperation in the field of architecture and the preservation of cultural heritage sites.

She recalled that 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the Bolshoi Theater, which has performed in the United States several times in its history. The Minister stressed that the American public warmly welcomed the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev.

"In Russia, we were happy to welcome orchestras from Philadelphia, Chicago, New York and, of course, concerts of contemporary music," Lyubimova said.

On March 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out the need to teach children, teenagers and young people more deeply and systematically about the contribution of Russian art to world culture. According to him, in recent years, Russia has directed many efforts towards the development of the national film industry. He noted the excellent education system in the field of art, which must be maintained.
