Ex-head of Dagestan Pension Fund sentenced to life in prison for organizing murder

Sagid Murtazaliev, the internationally wanted former head of the Russian Federation Pension Fund's office for the Republic of Dagestan, was sentenced to life in absentia for organizing a murder and financing an armed gang. This was reported on June 4 in the Southern District Military Court.

"In July 2010, Murtazaliev (who by that time was acting as the manager of the department of the Pension Fund of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan) decided to organize the murder of the deputy head of the Department for Countering Extremism stationed in the city of Kizlyar of the Center for Countering Extremism under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan and the deputy head of the administration of the municipal formation "Kizlyar City District" by members of the Illegal Armed Group for a fee," the court's representative was quoted as saying by TASS.
