Rubio called Russia a challenge for the United States
Russia still remains a challenge for the United States. This was stated on June 3 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, describing the attitude of the American authorities towards Russia.
"Of course, Russia remains a serious challenge," he said during a hearing before the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Rubio also said earlier in the day that the United States intends to transfer $400 million in military aid to Ukraine in the near future as part of a package that was previously approved by Congress. In addition, he said that the White House administration is working on a bill providing for the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.
Rubio also said it was necessary to maintain diplomatic contacts between Washington and Moscow and to continue the bilateral dialogue. The Secretary of State stressed that the issue of resolving the Ukrainian crisis and relations between the two countries should be considered separately. It was noted that the United States is interested in achieving a peaceful solution through negotiations, while it is necessary to maintain cooperation with Russia as one of the largest nuclear powers in the world.
