Hantavirus is widespread in the Volga regions of Russia, where the disease is endemic and has been effectively controlled. This was announced on June 4 by Yulia Minakova, an infectious disease specialist, associate professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology at the Siberian State Medical University.

"Hantavirus infection in Russia occurs mainly as hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. Most often in Russia, the disease is registered in Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Samara, Ulyanovsk regions," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
