The lawyer named ways to refund the money for the non-refundable ticket.
The full cost of a non-refundable plane ticket is subject to refund in case of cancellation or delay of the flight, as well as if the passenger or his close relative is ill. Lawyer Marianna Portnova announced this on June 4.
"You can fully refund the cost of even the cheapest non-refundable ticket for the following events. The first is the delay or cancellation of the flight. The airline must put a mark on the boarding pass stating that this has happened. And then you can refund the money for the non—refundable ticket," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Portnova noted that it is possible to refund money for a non-refundable ticket in case of sudden illness of a passenger, his close relative or a family member, including a spouse, child or parent. To do this, you must cancel the flight before check-in is completed and provide the airline with a sick leave or an official medical certificate.
She also pointed out that the death of a close relative could be the basis for a full refund. In such a situation, a death certificate must be presented before departure.
In addition, the lawyer reminded about the possibility of taking out insurance covering the return of non-refundable tickets. Such a policy is valid for various unforeseen circumstances, including illness, summons to court, conscription for military training or damage to property.
Anton Nemkin, a State Duma deputy and coordinator of the Digital Russia project, said on June 2 that fraudsters had become more active in Russia before the summer holidays, creating fake websites for airlines and tour operators, as well as offering fictitious rental housing at low prices. The MP explained that fake websites look almost indistinguishable from real ones: they use logos, photos, interface and reviews, creating the illusion of legitimacy. The purpose of the scammers is to obtain funds and bank card data.
