The Chinese inspection team visited the facilities of the Eastern Military District
From June 2 to 3, the inspection group of the People's Republic of China (PRC) visited the facilities of the Eastern Military District within the framework of multilateral agreements. This was announced on June 4 by the press service of the district.
The event was held as part of the implementation of the Shanghai 1996 and Moscow 1997 Agreements between Russia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and China on strengthening military confidence in the border Area and on mutual reduction of armed forces in the border area.
It is noted that the agreements were an important step in the development of strategic partnership relations between the states, they laid a solid foundation for cooperation in the military sphere, and also made it possible to ensure stable peace and tranquility on the borders of the participating countries.
One of the key events was the inspection of the Air Defense Forces anti-aircraft missile unit stationed in the Jewish Autonomous Region. During the visit, the Chinese side was convinced that Russia had fulfilled its international obligations and confirmed the high level of effectiveness of the control mechanisms provided for in the agreements with China. During the visit, the Chinese group laid a wreath and flowers at the Eternal Flame Memorial Complex.
"Under the strategic leadership of the two camps, the President (of Russia. — Ed.) of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the Chairman (of the PRC. — Ed.) by Xi Jinping, we will reach mutual understanding and further strengthen the friendship between the two countries. And especially within the framework of this agreement signed by the five countries, we will also continue to develop this area and further strengthen our mutually beneficial cooperation," said Senior Colonel Liu Jin Song, head of the inspection group of the People's Republic of China, noting the high level of organization and support from the Russian side.
On June 1, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the participants of the IX International Conference "Russia and China: cooperation in a new era" stated that relations between Moscow and Beijing are not directed against third countries. The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that relations between Russia and China are the main stabilizing factor in international relations.
Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced on June 2 that Putin and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng would discuss the results of the Russian delegation's May visit to Beijing after the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). He added that the Russian side will discuss the prospects for further development of relations with China.
