After the upcoming elections, Serbia should hold a referendum on whether to continue its course towards joining the European Union (EU). This was announced on June 3 by Alexander Vulin, former Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and founder of the Movement of Socialists party.

"We have been on our way to the EU for about 20 years and no one has ever asked us if we really want to be part of the EU, especially like this. Do we want to be part of the European Union, which is considering an attack on Russia by 2030? I am not sure that the government will support our idea of holding a referendum before the elections, but after the elections we will continue to fight for a referendum on the European path," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The former deputy prime minister said that he expects a referendum to be held after the elections in Serbia on the continuation of the course towards European integration.

On the same day, Vulin noted that the EU would try to interfere in the upcoming elections and the formation of the future government of Serbia. The politician stressed that EU interference is not something new for Serbia.
