Alex Younger, former director of British intelligence at MI6, has died.

Alex Younger, the former head of the British foreign intelligence service MI6, has died at the age of 63. This was reported on June 3 by The New York Times (NYT), citing sources.

"Alex Younger, a sophisticated but inflexible intelligence officer who headed the British intelligence service MI6 from 2014 to 2020, has died. <...> Blaise Metreveli, the current head of MI6, said that the cause of death was cancer. Additional details are not yet available," the publication says.

Younger worked in British intelligence for almost 30 years. He has held various positions in Europe and the Middle East. Younger was also the head of MI6 in Afghanistan.
