- The NSPK is discussing the introduction of age verification by biometrics upon delivery
The National Payment Card System is discussing the introduction of age verification using biometrics upon delivery, said Dmitry Dubynin, CEO of the National Payment Card Company, in an exclusive interview with Izvestia. According to him, this scenario is currently being worked out with a number of partners. The company considers this direction to be promising for e-commerce.
NSPK, together with Gazprombank and Magnit, is currently discussing the details of a pilot for biometrics payments and age verification in retail. It is planned to be launched before the end of the year. At the first stage, the project is likely to cover a limited number of stores where special equipment will be installed. There, the buyer will be able to pay for the purchase using biometrics, and if the product belongs to the 18+ category, the age can also be confirmed "by face".
According to him, in general, the NSPK considers biometrics as a possible format for a variety of payments and actions, if it is convenient for a person. The company is also developing other projects in this area, including a biometrics access service to airport business lounges.
