In practice, the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO does not have the unanimous support of all the members of the bloc. This was announced on June 3 by the Secretary General of the alliance Mark Rutte.

"The allies have made it very clear, and this was last confirmed at the NATO summit on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Alliance, that there is an irreversible path for Ukraine to join NATO. In practice, there is currently no consensus on this issue," he said.

Earlier, Rutte said that the survey on Ukraine's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance was no longer being discussed, and the alliance countries would provide Kiev with reliable security guarantees.

On February 18, the Russian Embassy in Belgium told Izvestia about the split of opinions within NATO. The diplomats recalled that Trump openly acknowledged the validity of Russia's rejection of the idea of expanding the alliance, calling attempts to draw Ukraine into NATO a mistake.

Military expert Yuri Knutov reported on March 12 that Ukraine's desire to join the alliance poses a threat to other European countries, given the frequent provocations initiated by Kiev, which contribute to the involvement of a wider range of states in crisis situations.
