Only nine beaches have been opened for swimming in Transbaikalia.
In the Trans-Baikal Territory, only nine beaches have been officially opened for swimming. Eight of them are located on the territories of children's health camps, another one is on the shore of Lake Kenon, the Zabaikalie TV channel reported on Wednesday, June 3.
Several applications have also been submitted for declaring new beaches, and they are currently under consideration, said Artem Kondratiev, head of the information and public relations group at the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
There are also unofficial bathing spots that are popular with locals. According to Kondratiev, the agency cannot prohibit people from relaxing in such reservoirs.
According to ChitaMedia news agency, the main task of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is to conduct preventive work and remind residents of the rules of safe behavior on the water. This is especially true when people swim drunk, which often leads to accidents.
Earlier it was reported that during the year in Transbaikalia, the number of permitted bathing places decreased by 10 times. The Ivano-Arakhlei Lakes are considered to be one of the most problematic areas.
