Polish law enforcement officers have detained a 57-year-old Ukrainian who fished the legendary catfish from Lake Balaton in Warsaw and then killed it. This was reported on June 3 by the Polsat TV channel.

This 183-centimeter catfish swam in the pond for about 20 years and was a local celebrity. On May 30, he was fished out by two refugees from Ukraine, loaded into a trunk and taken away, the authors of the material explain.

Law enforcement officers told the TV channel that it was too early to talk about possible consequences for the detainee, but he could be charged with animal cruelty and fishing during the closed season, which lasts from January 1 to May 31. In addition, eyewitnesses reported that the attackers were fishing in the center of the lake, from a catamaran. According to the law, any fishing vessel with a length of more than 7.5 meters must be registered with the city administration, the authors specify.

On April 1, the Dutch Prosecutor General's Office announced the arrest of a Ukrainian citizen who attacked passers-by with a knife in Amsterdam for 14 days on charges of terrorist-motivated assault. Later, on April 15, it became known that his term of detention had been extended by 90 days. At the same time, a representative of the Dutch prosecutor's office during the preliminary hearing of the case said that the suspect in the knife attack in Amsterdam, a citizen of Ukraine, expressed his willingness to commit this crime again.
