Illegal landfill was cleared in the Baikal National Park near Irkutsk

In the Irkutsk region, an illegal landfill was liquidated on the territory of the Baikal National Park. This is reported by the Baikal Interregional Environmental Prosecutor's Office.

The landfill of industrial and consumer waste was located in the village of Angarsk farms in the Irkutsk region. After the intervention of the prosecutor's office, she was liquidated.

"Based on the results of the review of the submission made by the prosecutor, the directorate of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Zapovednoe Pribaikalie has taken measures to eliminate them," the report says.

According to IA IrkutskMedia, the landfill consisted of remnants of lumber, sawdust and household burnt waste.

Last summer, it was reported that all illegal landfills had been cleared on the lands of the forest fund in the central ecological zone of the Baikal Natural Territory (CEZ BPT). At the same time, it was noted that since 2019, not a single large landfill has appeared on the territory of the CEZ.
