The Russian government will write off the debts of six regions, their total debt will be reduced by more than 37.5 billion rubles. This was announced on June 3 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a government meeting.
"The government continues to systematically work to reduce the debt burden of our regions. To do this, let me remind you, we use such a tool as debt cancellation on budget loans," Mishustin said.
According to him, the debt will be reduced in Yakutia, Tatarstan, Khabarovsk Territory, Vladimir, Kurgan and Omsk regions. It is noted that their total debt will be reduced by more than 37.5 billion rubles.
On May 14, Mishustin signed an order according to which part of the debt on budget loans was planned to be written off for six Russian regions. It was noted that partial debt cancellation would free up additional funds in regional budgets. This will help to support the economic development of the regions and improve the quality of life of the population.
The Russian government has already written off debts to 21 regions, the total amount of which has reached over 114 billion rubles. According to Mishustin, the regions have transferred a significant amount of their budgets for engineering work, as well as for the launch of new projects in their territories.
