The most popular cars among Russians in the spring of 2026 are named
In the spring of this year, demand for new cars increased by 14.6% compared to the same period last year. The average cost of a new car was 3.5 million rubles, and the most popular models included Lada Granta, Tenet T7 and Haval Jolion. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on June 3.
According to experts, the premium brands Hongqi and Exeed became the leader in demand dynamics among brands, they turned out to be 3.5 times more in demand than in the spring of 2025. Buyers began to consider Belgee cars 2.7 times more often. GAC (double growth) and Jaecoo (+70%) are also among the leaders in terms of demand growth.
The Exeed RX has become the record holder among the models, and demand for it has increased almost fivefold. Next are the Belarusian crossovers Belgee X70 and X50, whose popularity has approximately doubled. The top ten models with the highest demand growth included Haval Dargo (+84%), Geely Atlas (+79%), Omoda C7 (+73%), Geely Monjaro (+56%), Solaris HC (+49%), Lada Niva Travel (+47%) and Jaecoo J8 (+45%).
As analysts have noted, the crossover and SUV segment has traditionally been a market driver. In the spring of 2026, demand for new SUVs increased by 12.3% year-on-year, with the Exeed RX, Belgee X70, GAC GS8, Belgee X50 and GAC GS4 showing the highest dynamics among the SUV segment models.
The most popular new car was Lada Granta with an average price of 1.1 million rubles. Also among the sought-after models are: Tenet T7 (2.9 million rubles), Haval Jolion (2.6 million rubles), Tenet T4 (2.4 million rubles) and Lada Vesta (1.8 million rubles). The average price of some models has decreased. Among the leaders are Belgee X70 (-11.6%; up to 2.8 million rubles), Omoda C7 (-10.4%; up to 3.2 million rubles), Chery Tiggo 9 (-7.2%; up to 4.5 million rubles), Omoda C5 (-5.5%; up to 2.7 million rubles) and Jaecoo J7 (-4.9%; up to 3.2 million rubles).
Among the federal districts, the most noticeable growth in demand for new cars was recorded in the Southern (+67%), Ural (+18%) and Northwestern (+16%) Federal districts. The demand for new cars in January—May 2026 exceeded the indicator of the same period last year by 23%. The most popular cars of Chinese brands in Russia have become more in demand by 33%, which is facilitated by the growing loyalty of Russians to Chinese models and the active expansion of the model range, explained Artem Khomutinnikov, head of sales at New Cars at Avito.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation reported that 552.2 thousand new passenger cars (up to three years old) were sold in Russia in January—May 2026, which is 9% more than in the same period last year (506.3 thousand units).
