- Baldo revealed ways to protect the Novorossiya highway from attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, answering a question from Izvestia at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 3, spoke about the R-280 Novorossiya highway, its development and protection from attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
"What are we doing to secure the highway? Of course, we do everything in cooperation with the military, law enforcement agencies, and law enforcement agencies that have the capabilities to do so. A system has now been developed to counter drones, identify them and eliminate them in a timely manner," said Saldo.
In addition, the work of electronic warfare systems is being enhanced. Baldo noted that major repairs have already been completed on the Novorossiya highway, but the highway continues to be improved. Currently, work is underway there to create a four-lane highway "Azov Ring".
On May 29, the Ukrainian Armed Forces began using a comprehensive remote mining system with drones on the Novorossiya highway in the Berdyansk municipal District. In this regard, security measures over highways have been strengthened in the region.
On May 30, Igor Kastyukevich, a senator from the Kherson region, called the mining of the Novorossiya highway by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which runs along the Sea of Azov in the direction of Crimea, a terror tactic. According to him, the Kiev authorities and Western countries supporting them consistently ignore the provisions of international norms and documents.
