AvtoVAZ, together with TMS Motorsport, has developed the Lada Iskra TMS racing car, which was presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The car has been prepared to participate in the monocup, a long—term race of a new format on technically identical cars, according to a statement from the domestic manufacturer, which was received by Izvestia on June 3.

"The Lada Iskra TMS project is a racing series with a fundamentally new approach, aimed at maximum entertainment with a low entry threshold and a predictable budget without an engineering arms race. The start of the season is scheduled for 2027: 5 stages, including 10 races, are planned to be held on the best tracks in Russia," AvtoVAZ said.

The races will last 40-60 minutes and involve a change of pilots: each crew will consist of two to three people, including professionals, amateurs and media personalities. The presentation of the new series will take place on September 5-6 this year at the Central Exhibition Center "Moscow" as part of the Technical Sports Festival — Lada Iskra Fest.

Lada Iskra TMS is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 218 hp (280 Nm) and a six-speed sequential manual transmission. The racing car received a lightweight body with a welded safety frame, an aerodynamic body kit, a reinforced suspension with shock absorbers with adjustable compression and rebound, as well as new 17-inch wheels.

AvtoVAZ also presented the updated Lada Niva Legend SUV at the SPIEF. The model received a new engine, upgraded chassis and body, as well as new electronic systems.
